Al-Syed Tailors
For over five decades, Al-Syed Tailors has been synonymous with quality, craftsmanship, and tradition in Kuwait City. Established in 1972, we have grown from a single tailor shop to three prominent branches and two workshops, each dedicated to serving the distinguished gentlemen of Kuwait. Throughout our journey, we have faced significant challenges, including the Kuwait War and the global pandemic, yet our resilience and commitment to excellence have seen us through.
Our expertise extends beyond the traditional Kuwaiti dishdasha. We are well-versed in the unique styles of neighboring countries like Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. Our skilled craftsmen specialize in creating customized dishdashas that reflect these diverse regional styles, ensuring each piece is culturally significant and impeccably stylish.
Our Specialization: The Kuwaiti Dishdasha
At Al-Syed, we specialize in crafting the perfect Kuwaiti Arab gent dress, known as the dishdasha. The dishdasha is not just a garment; it is a symbol of cultural heritage and elegance. Our expert tailors understand the significance of this traditional attire and are committed to providing you with the finest quality and the perfect fit.
The Kuwaiti dishdasha is a timeless piece of traditional attire that embodies simplicity, elegance, and practicality. Each element of its design is carefully crafted to provide comfort while reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Kuwait. Whether worn for daily activities or special occasions, the dishdasha remains a symbol of Kuwaiti identity and pride.
The Dishdasha Anatomy Kuwaiti Style
- Fabric: The Kuwaiti dishdasha is typically made from lightweight and breathable fabrics such as cotton, linen, or a blend. This ensures comfort in the hot and arid climate of the region.
- The colors of dishdashas change based on the season. In the summer, men prefer lighter colors to avoid attracting heat, while in the winter, they opt for darker shades like grey and brown.
- Cut: The dishdasha is a long, loose-fitting robe that extends down to the ankles. It features a straight cut, allowing for ease of movement and comfort.
- Color: Traditionally, white is the most common color for the dishdasha, especially during the summer. Darker colors like grey, beige, and black are often worn during the cooler months.
- Neckline: The Kuwaiti thobe features a distinct collar style. It’s a circular collar with one or two buttons depending on neck preference
- Cuffs: The sleeves of a Kuwaiti dishdasha are long and loose, ending in cuffs that can be either plain or adorned with buttons. Some modern designs may feature cufflinks for a more formal look.
- Front Pocket: A small, often discreet pocket is located on the left side of the chest. This pocket can be used for small personal items or simply as a design element.
- Side Pockets: Hidden side pockets are also a common feature, providing practical storage without disrupting the garment’s clean lines.
